SEVERIN HANSEN

Danish furniture designer of the mid-20th century, Severin Hansenis posthumously known for his remarkable works. If the various events of his life are passed over, his many creations arouse enthusiasm among connoisseurs, making him a highly appreciated designer.

SEVERIN HANSEN: A DESIGNER STRENGTHENED BY HIS COLLABORATIONS

During his life, Severin Hansen collaborated with several notables in the field of Danish design, which earned him a certain notoriety. Many of his furniture was manufactured by Haslev Møbelsnedker, a manufacturing company in Haslev, a small town next to Copenhagen. Mostly known for his remarkable work on wood, Hansen finds himself in the company’s values and owes it most of his furniture. We also note an extremely fruitful collaboration with the Danish porcelain company Royal Copenhagen, for whom he produces a series of rosewood tables.

SEVERIN HANSEN’S STYLE

Like most of his contemporaries, Severin Hansen’s style is anchored in Scandinavian fashion in the middle of the 20th century. He chooses noble materials, such as teak, rosewood, or mahogany. He mainly makes tables, with clean and angular forms, in a very representative style of Danish design. These three mahogany nesting tables, shown here, are the perfect example of his work: the shapes are harmonious, the high quality materialin a pure modern Scandinavian style. This know-how and this kind make Severin Hansen’s furniture rare pieces, very popular nowadays by design enthusiasts.

Similar to Johannes Andersen’s, Severin Hansen’s work is known worldwide among connoisseurs today. The Vintage Furniture has some rare pieces, available for sale and of very high quality.
