A path marked by success in Scandinavian vintage design

Hans J. Wegner is a designer who has marked the trend of Nordic decoration. His passion for wood led him to train as a cabinetmaker before continuing his studies and becoming an architect. Hans J. Wegner then worked with renowned designers and architects such as Arne Jacobsen, Erik Møller and Michael Laursen. Hans J. Wegner’s talent and creativity allowed him to stand out in a short space of time to open his own studio at the age of 29.

The creator of more than 500 chairs

Known for his Scandinavian wooden vintage design furniture, Hans J. Wegner owes his celebrity to the different chairs he designed during his career. In 1940, the designer designed his first Danish vintage chair for mass distribution. His model was a great success because it combined simplicity and elegance at the same time. Hans J. Wegner is also the creator of the legendary Danish vintage chair “The Round Chair” which was presented during the US presidential debate against John F. Kenedy and Richard Nixon. Other chairs also bear the signature of Hans J.Wegner, including the wing chair and the “OX” armchairs. The Danish designer has been awarded several times for his timeless creations. Hans J. Wenger won the Grand Prix of the Milan Triennale and the Lunning Prize.
